Event Registration - A Deeper Understanding of the Darknet and Dark Markets

Most risk and compliance professionals have heard of onion routing, Tor, Deepnet, Darknet, and Dark Markets. Both the Darknet and Dark Markets are widely discussed but often not understood. At the same time, the payment industry in increasingly becoming aware of exposure in these spaces.

Tor is most commonly used to hide one's identity. But, it can also be used by an insider to breach a firewall or Internet filter, and is a gateway to what is commonly called the Darknet. While Tor is the most common onion router, it is definitely not the only one.

This Webinar is not intended to make attendees experts, but rather to demystify the topic. It will give risk and compliance professionals the foundation that they need to understand these tools and communities-both how they function and how they are exploited by criminals.

About the Presenter:
Chuck Cohen is Vice President for Strategic and International Initiatives at NW3C, The National White Collar Crime Center.

He is a Professor of Practice in the Indiana University Bloomington Department of Criminal Justice, where he has taught since 2003.
